Raoul Dufy : A Celebration of Beauty

2006

Raoul Dufy (1877 - 1953) was one of the leading artists of the 20th century. He was not only associated with numerous prominent writers and artists, but was also an extremely prolific creator himself: In addition to thousands of oils and watercolors, Dufy illustrated literary works employing the mediums of woodcut, lithography, engraving, watercolor and drawing. He was also active in the domain of fashion, creating numerous fabric designs. A common thread running through all of his works was the "Joy of Life," which he celebrated throughout his career.
