The Last Impressionists - Time of Intimacy

2015-2016

The Société Nouvelle des Peintres et Sculpteurs was an art society formed in Paris in 1900. Its members were artists who were not part of the avant-garde of the time, such as Fauvism or Cubism, but pursued more approachable, congenial styles that inherited the legacies of Impressionism. The critically and commercially successful Société Nouvelle cannot be ignored in understanding the European art world at the start of the 20th century.

The Last Impressionists - Braintrust Inc.

Composed of works from museums and private collections in France and elsewhere, and supervised by art historian Yann Farinaux-Le Sidaner, who is the great-grandson of Société Nouvelle artist Henri Le Sidaner, this exhibition threw light on one of the currents frequently sidelined by art historical discussions based solely on modernist perspectives.
